Changes are coming to Argenziano this year. It is with heavy hearts that we hear we are losing our newcomer classrooms due to very, very low enrollment. The good news, however, is that this leaves us with room to welcome the AIM program, which was running out of space at Winter Hill. Argenziano will continue to be what is has always been: radically welcoming. Please see below for a letter from Principal Soto explaining the changes.

A message from Albert F. Argenziano School at Lincoln Park

Dear Argenziano Parents and Caregivers,

We are writing to share an important update regarding programming changes at the Argenziano School for the 2026 – 2027 school year.

After careful consideration and analysis of enrollment data in the Newcomers Program, the district has determined that enrollment does not support maintaining two program strands for the 2026 - 2027 school year. The programs are currently located at the Healey and Argenziano. Based on this review and the proximity of families served, a decision has been made to close the Newcomers program at the Argenziano School.

The Newcomers Program has been an important part of our school community for many years, and we recognize that this decision may be difficult for families. Please know that this choice was not made lightly. We remain deeply committed to supporting all students and families during this transition and will work closely with the district to ensure continuity of services for students currently enrolled in the program. Students currently enrolled in the program at AFAS will transition to our integrated classrooms and will not be displaced.

Beginning in the 2026–2027 school year, the Argenziano School will welcome the AIM program. This program is specially designed for students on the Autism Spectrum who require a separate setting. This transition allows us to continue serving students with diverse learning needs while introducing new programming to our school community. The Special Education Department will collaborate closely with school leadership to ensure that appropriate supports are in place for students and families.

We are committed to maintaining a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment for all students. Additional information and opportunities for families to ask questions will be shared as planning continues.

Thank you for your continued trust and partnership. We appreciate your support as we thoughtfully plan for the future of the Argenziano School community.

Sincerely,
Glenda Soto, Principal
